Shielded Lamps

Shielded lamps have greatly reduced alternating electric fields. The emission of alternating magnetic fields is also greatly reduced by twisting the connecting cables in the shielded lamp construction.  The shielding is created by stringing together and by grounding the shielding basket in which the light source is located, via the lampholder and cable to the plug. The cables are twisted 15 turns per meter to minimize the magnetic field that occurs when the lights are on. All electrically shielded lamps must be connected to earthed sockets.
