Laptops and tablets that connect wirelessly

How does it work?

Laptops and tablets are small computers that are designed to be easy to carry and are therefore equipped with wireless technology, such as Wi-Fi, mobile broadband and Bluetooth. Wireless means that communication takes place over the air using transmitters that emit pulsed microwave radiation.

Wi-Fi is a type of network that makes it possible to communicate wirelessly between different devices, such as the tablet, mobile phone and broadband router. Mobile broadband provides access to the internet via the mobile network and Bluetooth makes it possible to connect a wireless hands-free.

The laptops can also be connected with a fixed connection. The wireless functions are normally turned on and active even when they are not actively used and even then emit pulsed microwave radiation.

What is the problem?

Every time the tablet or laptop is connected wirelessly to the internet, they emit high levels of microwave radiation that are harmful.

The levels are significantly higher than the levels that research has shown to cause DNA damage in cells: 0.05 W/kg for 3G/UMTS. A common misconception is that earlier phones (GSM and NMT) are more harmful than newer models because they transmit with higher power. This is wrong because research has shown that the content of the signal and different frequencies have a major impact on the harmfulness. For example, GSM damages the DNA of cells at 0.3 W/kg, but 3G causes DNA damage at a 20 times lower level of 0.05 W/kg.

In addition, like all computers, they emit low-frequency electromagnetic radiation. Both forms of radiation pose health risks. Low-frequency magnetic fields have been shown in repeated research to cause cancer, which is why this radiation is also classified as “possibly carcinogenic” by IARC.

It has become common for schools to give students tablets or laptops in teaching that connect wirelessly and thus emit high levels of microwave radiation. When many students connect their computers to the internet at the same time, the microwave radiation in the classrooms therefore becomes very high.

The other major problem that applies in particular to tablets, but also laptops, is that the design of the computer means that it automatically comes closer to the body. Many people put the computer on their lap while working. If a child uses a tablet, the tablet comes very close to the body and face.

Children absorb more radiation in the head and the radiation penetrates deeper into the head compared to an adult. Children's nervous systems are also developing and children are therefore more sensitive to the negative effects of radiation.

A scientific study has found that the low-frequency fields emitted from a laptop are higher than those recommended by TCO and SWEDAC.

Many people, including school-age children, report symptoms so severe that they cannot be in environments where tablets or laptops are used or introduced into school classrooms. Commonly reported symptoms are identical to those that have long been linked to exposure to microwave radiation: concentration problems, dizziness, skin rashes, headaches, heart problems, memory impairment, and more.

An informative 8-minute video about the risks of tablets comes from Australia. Australia has the same limit value as Sweden, which only protects against the heating effects of very short-term exposure (30 minutes) and excludes effects such as cancer that occur due to longer-term exposure at lower intensities: Link

Tips to Reduce Your Risk

The best way to protect yourself from EMF radiation is to minimize your use of and maximize your distance from EMF devices. When that’s not possible, there are a few things you can do to reduce your exposure exponentially without having to stop using your computer, laptop, or router. Here are some of them:

Wired Internet connection
When you’re connected to WiFi, your computer has to emit large amounts of EMF to keep the connection stable with the router. And since EMF doesn’t travel linearly, you’ll get stuck in between that transmission. But there’s a simple solution – wired internet. When your internet goes to your router with an Ethernet cable, most of the EMF stays inside. This will significantly reduce your EMF exposure. Plus, wired internet is faster, more stable, and much safer than WiFi.

No Wireless Devices
Many people prefer to use wireless accessories with their desktop computers – like wireless keyboards, mice, and headphones. Most of these products use either Bluetooth or RF (radio frequency) to connect to your computer. Therefore, you should always choose their wired alternatives. They will give you an identical experience, minus the massive EMF exposure.

In cases where you cannot operate with wired internet, we recommend our radiation-reducing protection products.
